Tips :

look for cheap 10 packs of sellotape to stick on the paper strips
use old magasines, books, sheet music, wrapping paper and paper shopping bags for the paper strips
the backing card needs to be stronger – you may need to invest a little and also buy some sharp cutting scissors
we found glittery paper to be the most effective for the Iris, but some people use buttons, or a small picture, or other decorations they may find
when you are used to Iris folding, pre-cut the paper strips to length, preparing them on the table in the right order, then stick them on the card – it’s quicker

make the ring using old electrical wire and electrical tape to secure
be inventive to cover and decorate the ring – plaited wool, material strips, ribbons,…
use any strong thread or wool for the web, insert beads as you go

use a double thread, so it doesn’t break when you are sewing
if you sew a button in the centre, leave the extra thread hanging until you are sure you won’t be sewing the yoyo onto something as a decoration
for the hairband, glue the elastic and felt cover on with a hot glue gun

we tried bigger hedgehogs, but the ordinary paperback size sold much better
