Tips :

  • we sold robins (brown, white and red birds) for Christmas decorations
  • you could also make colourful decorations
  • use a double thread of wool to attach the bird and be able to tie the knots very tight without the wool breaking
  • we used scrunched up paper for the head

  • you will need a simple jewellry tool kit, including wire cutters, flat nose pliers (for holding small items without marking) and round nose pliers (for shaping and opening/closing jump rings)
  • there are lots of jewellry accessory sites on-line – we used perlaya in France

Knitting – Easter rabbits

Tips :

  • you can fill the rabbit with a single egg, or lots of other eggs or sweets
  • you can make your own little fluffy pom-poms using your fingers and a pair of scissors : make a pom-pom – leave a long length of wool on the pom-pom to sew it onto the rabbit
  • you could also make small toys by filling the rabbit with stuffing
  • this is another project you could ask people to do for you at home

Cuddy toy – folded rabbit

Tips :

  • we used donated soft dressing gowns and donated material suitable for sensitive skins

  • make sure you use stong sting or thread to attach the toy and pull the knots very tight

  • we embroidered the face so nothing could fall off the rabbit for a young child to swaller

  • of course the toy is not CE approved – so you would need to provide a little not with the toy, saying then parents would use the toy under their own risk

Polymer clay – bracelets and keyrings

You can have fun with polymer clay.  Mix colours lightly to make colourful beads, or try something more sophisticated, for example :

Tips :

  • you can have a special theme to your articles depending on your fund-raising event
  • you will need a simple jewellry tool kit, including wire cutters, flat nose pliers (for holding small items without marking) and round nose pliers (for shaping and opening/closing jump rings)
  • there are lots of jewellry accessory sites on-line – we used perlaya in France
  • we found spending the extra money on polymer clay glaze made the jewellry more attractive and probably more resistant – it goes a long way – the brush should be integrated into the bottle lid (very practical)
  • you can work glitter into plain polymer clay to add some sparkle

 

Bags – old jeans

  • these bags were made from donated fabric, jeans and trinkets for decoration

  • they were made by a sewing enthusiast and were a great success

  • use sacking for a natural look and felt is practical for the wings and the crest
  • bright colours are a success

Tips :

  • start with an easier pattern, such as an angry bird or a flower
  • the original rainbow loom elastic bands seem to be more resistant – a little more expensive, but less likely to break when you are hooking a more complicated charm
